Round the Lough Series – Week 2

A Glorious Day on the Lough – 6 Boats, Sunshine, and a North-Westerly Breeze

Sunday 18th May brought near-perfect conditions for Week 2 of Cockle Island Boat Club’s Round the Lough Series. With a steady north-westerly wind at 8 knots and brilliant sunshine overhead, six boats took on the long course around Belfast Lough.

After over two and a half hours of racing for most of the fleet, it was Scamp who clinched victory with a corrected time of 02:22:01, closely followed by Bird of Sunset and Plexus. It was a tight contest throughout, especially between Ishtar and Osprey, who finished within seconds of each other.

Unfortunately, Maximoose was forced to retire partway through the race — we hope to see her back on the water next time.
